Tourist Tips from At My Pace Amateur Hour Presents -
Much thanks to BB for these Amsterdam Pictures
BB (an "irregular" Forum participant) sent me these photos from his
October trip, and he was such a nice guy he sent these descriptions too.
Towards end he admits that his wife took these pics ;>)

The canal house with the cool
woodwork. This house can be found along the Seven Bridges view. This view is
between Vijzelstraat and Utrechtestraat just below Rembrantplein. This house
has some really cool woodwork on its facade.
The Waag. The Waag is actually the
buildings at the end of the Kloveniersburgwal canal. It was originally
built in 1487 as the Sint Antoniespoort City Gate. It was later used as
the Weigh House (De Waag), and housed trade guilds on it's second floor.
Nowadays it's a trendy (read expensive) cafe located at Nieuwemarket
#4
.
The boats, this was just a cool shot that
popped up due to the excellent lighting. The boats are at the bottom of
the Amstel, looking out towards the direction of the Munt. There is
actually a guy on the end of the boat at the top othe picture, but you can
hardly make him out.
..
Zuiderkerk,
located one canal over from the Waag towards the Waterlooplein Market at
the end of the Groenburgwal. What more can you ask for, a canal, a church
tower, and foliage!
Flowers - the wife loves flowers, and they make for a a nice photo opp.
These were from the first stand on the Singel "Floating" Flower market
off of Vijzelstraat. it is where we usually buy our fresh flowers while
in Amsterdam. The people are nice and the flowers are of excellent
quality.
The Fat Pozenboot Cat - The original
Pozenboot (opposite #40 Single) was under renovation, they had some of
the cats temporarily housed in a boat opposite #20. There were about a dozen
cats there. The Pozenboot is a shelter, where they try and raise money to
help neuter/spay as many stray cats as possible, and keep them healthy,
along with provide a safe place to live. They rely almost exclusively on
donations to keep things running. This was the fattest cat we've ever
seen, especially in Amsterdam where they do grow them big. The wife is a cat
lady, and it was a little bizzare to meet up with cat ladies from around
the world at the Pozenboot (along with several Cat Lady Husbands like
myself). If you are in the neighborhood stop by and check them out. They
are only open from 1pm to 4pm or thereabouts.
