DON’T SHIT IN THE STATION

Go see for yourself.

Ride a train in Europe long enough to need to find the WC. That’s water closet for the unitiated.

Instead of the crescent moon, the Europeans use WC signs in public to indicate where the bathrooms are. Bring spare change. Or use the free one on the trains. When you flush, look down and you will notice daylight. Isn’t that a romantic thought? Big piles of 90 mph splatted crap all over the rails of Europe.

So now you understand when you see the little sign in the train toilet: "Don’t shit in the station." Or something to that effect.

The Amtrak trains in the United States use holding tanks to store wastes made in tran. I don't know what the reason is that the Europeans have not caught up with this technology. Perhaps they take a cue from the Chinese who know how to compost their human wastes. At the same time I don't see any flowers growing between the rails.

I would really not like to be a European trackworker. The Americans are justly accused of being overly sensitive to smells, bacteria and cleanliness. At the same time, I would want someone to disinfect the tracks before I would work on them.
