The Goeree-Overflakke Driving Route

This route is described

After port Zeelande, look for left turn across highway to Straand Vuurtoren. If you take a right first, there is a tourist information map on a road to the left. If you turned right and continued straight past the tourist sign left, then you would soon arrive at Restaurant De Punt. This scenery is interesting for a quick side trip even if you don't want to eat.

After De Punt and/or the tourist sign, cross the highway and head towards the ocean. If you see a blockish tower ahead of you then you're on the right path. Immediately to the left is a dead-end road that goes to a beach. Do not turn yet, and certainly don't drive on the bike trails to the left!

Instead, drive a kilometer or so, and just past the bus stop is a left turn onto West Niewelandsweg. This backroad marks the beginning of your version of the Goeree-Overflakke tourist driving route. Notice the quaint farms and houses alongside the road as you first go northwest and then curve to the right and go north-northeast. After just 2 or 3 kilometers you will see the Vuurtoren on your left and much closer. Continue to the 4-way intersection. To the right is the road you drove on after turning off the hiway. Straight is interesting, and we will go there soon. For now, turn left onto the narrower road and drive towards the tower.

When you come to the T-intersection of the small roads, you will eventually turn right. You could make a quick left here into a parking lot for a walk along the beach near the tower, if you are so inclined.

Assuming you don't turn left to the tower parking lot, turn right instead and continue north along the small road through the dunes. In just a short kilometer or two there are a few nice houses here, a snack bar to the left, and another parking lot to the right.

Eventually the road turns right onto Groenweg. There is a left turn here but I am still determining if it's a one-way road. Determine this, but for now…

Continue up Groenweg to the next intersection and turn left onto XXXXX.. Remember back to the end of West Niewelandsweg, where you turned left towards the tower onto the smaller road? If you had gone straight instead you would have been on this road you just turned left onto from Groenweg.

You will continue a few kilometers down this road until you spot an ANWB hexagonal tourist sign on the right directing you along the Goeree-Overflakke driving route. This next stretch of road will take you through Oude-xxxx and Oudorp and into Goederede. Goederede is another town with a kerkring, so if you missed Drieschoor and Burg-Heemstede earlier, be sure to stop here.
