Most of Amsterdam's best
architecture was built during the Golden Age of the 1600's. The house displays
shutters covering windows that look down onto Bloemenmarkt. Bloemenmarkt is the
floating flower market on the Singel by Muntplein. Floating since 1862, this
market has been in operation since the 1600's. |

This picture was taken as I
stood on the dock next to the Holland Casino near Max Euweplein, Leidseplein
and Museumplein. The casino is worth a visit, but you are supposed to be
dressed nicely. Don't lose all your tour money! |

This 19th century house is on
Jan Luijkenstraat near Museumplein and P.C. Hooftstraat. This particular house
has been converted into a nice hotel - the Hotel ACRO. The ACRO is my favorite
in Amsterdam, offering reasonable prices for clean rooms in a good location.
The most important feature of the ACRO Hotel is the 24-hour bar open for guests
only.

Another picture taken on Jan
Luijkenstraat, across the street from the ACRO Hotel. This was taken in late
April, when the Dutch blooming season is at it's best. While the houses on one
side of Jan Luikenstraat are built in a long row, this side of the street
boasts some of the most impressive standalone houses in Amsterdam. |

A picture taken from in front
of the Rijksmuseum where Stadshouderskade meets Niewe Spiegelstraat. This shows
more of the sumptous standalone houses in Amsterdam. |
