This shot looks up Damrak at
the Centraal Station where most visitors arrive. Amsterdam's Centraal Station
was completed in 1889. The station sites in the heart of town, with many
destinations within a five minute walk such as the Red Light
District
Taken in the Rijksmuseum
garden, this photo shows an arched gate from the 17th century. It was moved
here after the Rijksmuseum was built. This garden makes an excellent place to
rest, even if you're not going inside the museum.
Most of Amsterdam's best
architecture was built during the Golden Age of the 1600's. The house displays
shutters covering windows that look down onto Bloemenmarkt. Bloemenmarkt is the
floating flower market on the Singel by Muntplein. Floating since 1862, this
market has been in operation since the 1600's.
