Schiphol Airport: Amsterdam's Airport, Europe's Airport

If you are flying to Amsterdam, you will be landing at Schipol Airport, just 15 miles from Amsterdam's center. If you are flying elsewhere in Europe, there is a good chance your flight will go through Schiphol. Schiphol Airport is the busiest airport in Europe.

I have more information about Schipol Airport on my old site, trackandtrain.com. You can also look at the Schiphol Airport website. Find the link for English, click it, and see their new website. Here is an excerpt from their site that mirrors my thinking:.
"Seeing people off, picking up passengers or doing some shopping are all activities that demand a nice refreshment. Before passport control you can find a wide choice of bars and cafés to relax and catch up. Looking for a café, a juice bar, a coffee corner? It is all there. "
One of the first things to do when you land is to get some cash. There is a bank and ATM's at the airport. In the past, some machines took VISA while others took Mastercard (Maestro). Now, geldautomaats and giromaats both take many types of credit and debit cards. See my money page on trackandtrain.com.

My favorite thing at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport is the Food Village 24-hour grocery store. Of course, things are more expensive here. When I get off the plane, I get my money and head to Food Village to buy some water, or whatever else I have a taste for. Enjoy these photos or the most important items in the store:

Leffe beer, the Dubbel is my favorite Heineken beer

In front of the airport are many connections for buses, shuttles and taxis. If you get bored, you can see what's on the Astrovision jumbo TV screen. I was waiting for the program to begin, but I think they only show ads here:
Astrovision to watch while you wait for the bus. Astrovision -- een beetje ad
