What about
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg? Driving in Holland and Belgium -- Ideas, Info and
Itineraries
Why visit the towns and cities of Holland? What are the
provinces in Holland and why should I really say "the
Netherlands?"
AMERSFOORT
I took these photos on a cold, dark day in Amersfoort. It
was freezing, there are some shots of frozen canals and more. |
AMSTERDAM -- "Venice of the North" Amsterdam is a
multifacted city. On one hand, it is known for its wilder side. At the same
time, Amsterdam is a much cozier place than London, Paris or Rome. See the Red
Light District for it's history, museums and whatever else attracts you
there.
Then see the real
Amsterdam, with canal tours, museums, cafes, bars,
Vondelpark, trams, bikes, and tourists. |

Haarlem--
"City of Quaint Streets" Haarlem, just 20 minutes by train from Amsterdam, is a
worthwhile place to see. Haarlem's most unique feature is the abundance of
quaint streets, more than anywhere else in Holland.
Haarlem also boasts the Frans Hals Museum, St. Bavo's
Cathedral, and it's own small-scale Red Light District. The Grote Markt square
is surrounded by history and architecture, and it's just a 10 minute walk from
Haarlem Centraal Station. |

Maastricht-- "Jewel of the Limburg Province"
Maastricht is the most impressive, friendly city in the southern part of the
Netherlands. See the Town by Town page plus the Photo and Video Gallery..

 Here's a
tram on Visselstraat in Amsterdam. The ABN-Amro
bank building is shown behind the tram.
