COFFEESHOPS -- Go to Coffeeshops Main Page

HOSTELS

THE LAST WATERHOLE-- One of my favorite places in the Red Light District, The Last Waterhole is 3 things in one - a coffeeshop, a bar, and a hostel. So in theory you could listen to live music, drink and get stoned, then pass out upstairs in the dormitory. Definitely only for those who LIKE sleeping in dormitories, but I always stop in to buy some pot and have a drink.

Flying Pig Hostel-- Includes English section for those who don't speak Dutch, Website for hostels throughout Holland with good information. Multiple hostels in Amsterdam plus Noordwijk and Brussells.

AIRLINES & TRAVEL

EASYJET -- A great deal on travel from Amsterdam to London or elsewhere in Europe. Uses Luton Airport in London, and I don't know if that's good or bad. According to EasyJet's web site, http://www.easyjet.co.uk, this airport is a 10 minutes bus trip + a 30 minute train ride away from London, will get more info. Prices typically $50-60 each way for Amsterdam to London.

I dislike Priceline so much that I won't put a link up. They force you to pay before you know what you are getting. They intentionally lose money to attract customers. You do not make this up in volume. What is the long term prospect of that?

TRAVELZOO.com-- When they started, they gave away a few free shares. I was intrigued so I applied for some, making me a shareholder. Whatever that's worth! An interesting travel site..

TRAVELOCITY.com-- Another good vacation/flight/hotel etc booking site. Search for deals, get travel ideas to fit your budget.

http://www.tribute.nl/nbt/fietsen/ Site provides rich content based on the ANWB/VVV approved bike routes. Cutesy interface at first, or you can select from the list. You have to choose either city routes, country routes, or longer distance routes by pulling a bicycle image onto the roadway, then after watching an animation you get to the real information. GRAB the KLUNKY bike and see the Amsterdam bike tour. This would be excellent, you could hike it in 1 day or walk it, taking your time in 2 days.
