First, see the information about changing money and using credit cards. Any credit or debit card with a VISA or MASTERCARD logo is the best thing to carry. ATM cards are not universally accepted.

Then see the section about telephone service. Telephone services in Europe work quite differently from the US -- we are spoiled with excellent service and integration, Europeans are just learning about this.
